Job description

SPIE Global Services Energy is looking for E&I Cable Pulling Tech to join its workforce on BONGA Offshore Project in Lagos Nigeria.

  • Read and interpret cable schedules, cable routing layouts, termination drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, tray layouts and installation specifications.
  • Carry out cable pulling and installation activities for power, control, instrumentation, telecom, fiber-optic, fire alarm, CCTV and other ELV cables as assigned.
  • Verify cable routes, tray availability, conduits, ducts and cable trenches before commencing cable-pulling activities.
  • Inspect cable drums and verify cable type, size, length, drum number, tag number and destination against approved cable schedules.
  • Set up cable drums, rollers, cable socks, pulling ropes, winches and other equipment required for safe and controlled cable installation.
  • Perform manual and mechanical cable pulling while maintaining the manufacturer's specified maximum pulling tension, bending radius and installation requirements.
  • Ensure cables are properly supported and arranged on cable trays, ladders, conduits, ducts, trenches and underground routes.
  • Maintain proper cable separation between power, control, instrumentation, communication and intrinsically safe circuits in accordance with project requirements.
  • Ensure cables are not damaged during installation and immediately report any cuts, crushing, excessive bending, sheath damage or other defects.
  • Install cables with adequate slack at equipment, junction boxes, panels, marshalling cabinets and termination points to facilitate proper termination.
  • Maintain correct cable identification by installing cable tags, markers, ferrules and destination labels at specified locations.
  • Dress, arrange and secure installed cables using approved cable ties, cleats, clamps, straps and other cable-management materials.
  • Ensure cables are installed neatly and maintain proper routing, spacing, accessibility and workmanship standards.
  • Assist electricians and instrument technicians with cable preparation activities, including cable stripping, gland preparation and routing to termination points, within the technician's authorized scope.
  • Assist with installation of cables through conduits, cable trays, ladders, underground ducts and cable trenches, including difficult or congested areas.
  • Carry out cable pulling in accordance with approved Method Statements, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments and Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements.
  • Conduct pre-pulling inspections

 

QHSE

  • Ensures HSE policy fulfilment during his activities
  • Maintains a strong safety culture in line with Company HSE Requirements and Rules
  • Ensures compliance with Operating Procedures & Guidelines with the asset to ensure Process Safety, Operational Safety and Plan Integrity
  • Management System, including permit-to-work (PTW) procedures, SIMOPS, tool box talks, and job hazard analyses (JHA). He/she shall immediately address and report any unsafe acts or conditions in the work area

Profile

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  1. Education: Minimum HND or B.Sc. in in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Technology, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent vocational training with relevant field experience will be considered

    Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years of hands-on experience in electrical construction on oil and gas EPC projects, with at least 4–5 years in a supervisory role specifically covering cable tray installation and cable routing. Experience on offshore platforms, FPSOs, or Deepwater projects is a strong advantage.
