Job description

SPIE Services Nigeria Limited is currently looking for PLR Design Engineer to join its work force in Nigeria. He/She will perform the following task:

Pre FID activities

  • Support review and consolidation of offshore pipeline design basis, project specifications, technical requisitions and key engineering assumptions for FEED close-out, CFT and RTA.
  • Contribute to pipeline route selection, shore approach definition, crossing philosophy, geophysical/geotechnical data review and identification of key installation constraints.
  • Support preparation and technical clarification of EPC/LLI tender documents related to line pipe, coating, welding, installation, pre-commissioning and associated pipeline deliverables.
  • Review contractor technical proposals, deviations, qualifications and clarifications related to pipeline design, installation methodology and constructability.
  • Support project management in identifying key pipeline technical risks, schedule drivers, long-lead items and installation readiness requirements for FID.

Post FID activities
H3SE & compliance:

  • Adopt and demonstrate exemplary behavior regarding H3SE, to implement H3SE rules and requirements within his area of responsibility and to ensure that required H3SE competencies are within his team.
  • Demonstrate an exemplary behavior regarding the Company Ethics and “Code of Conduct” policy and to promote and enforce the Anti-Corruption Program within his team.
  • Verify that H3SE rules are understood and respected on the worksites (H3SE awareness) and to ensure safe working practices are used by Contractors along all phases of project.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the review of pipeline engineering deliverables, ensuring timely comments, closure of technical queries and alignment with Contract requirements.
  • Follow up pipeline design activities including route engineering, wall thickness, on-bottom stability, free-span/VIV, buckling, expansion, crossings, shore approach, corrosion protection and coating design.
  • Support installation engineering by reviewing applicable installation analyses, lay tension, curvature limits, stinger configuration, abandonment and recovery, weather limitations and installation procedures.
  • Ensure design maturity is sufficient before procurement, fabrication, welding qualification, coating, load-out, offshore installation and pre-commissioning activities commence.
  • Provide technical support during fabrication, construction, installation and pre-commissioning, including resolution of site queries, non-conformances, deviations and engineering changes.
  • Report pipeline engineering progress, critical issues, technical risks and required decisions to the SURF Package Manager and relevant project stakeholders.
  • Act as Company technical representative for pipeline design and engineering matters with EPC contractor, vendors and third-party specialists.

  • Ensure contractor deliverables comply with Contract requirements, project specifications.

 

Profile

Continuation:

  • Review and challenge contractor assumptions, calculation reports, procedures, installation analyses, method statements and readiness dossiers.
  • Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, constructability reviews, installation readiness reviews, HAZID/HAZOP/PTR and risk workshops.
  • Monitor contractor performance on pipeline engineering deliverables, comment resolution, technical query closure and interface deliverables.
  • Support offshore execution as required, including technical assistance to Company site representatives during installation and pre-commissioning campaigns.
  • Support to rest of Project and Package Manager
  • Ensure pipeline interfaces with subsea structures, risers/spools, tie-ins, crossings, shore approach, onshore facilities, Field Operations and pre-commissioning are identified, managed and closed in due time.
  • Support interface clarification with geotechnical, metocean, environmental, HSE, QA/QC, procurement, fabrication, installation and operations teams.
  • Review and validate technical documents required for partners, authorities, certifying bodies or third-party approvals where applicable.
  • Anticipate design or installation changes that may impact other packages, schedule, cost, HSE or operational integrity, and propose mitigation actions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 

  • Professional Experience (number of years): 15 years.
  • Experience within project and project management: 10 years
