SERVICE DIMENSION:
The Project Architect serves as the Company's resident in-house architectural authority across all Company EP Nigeria Limited facilities in Nigeria. The role holder is responsible for the full architectural lifecycle of capital projects and facilities management services, from initial design concept through to construction supervision, quality assurance, and as-built documentation.
This is a technically demanding, multi-site role requiring a seasoned professional who can independently manage complex briefs, engage with contractors and consultants to enforce design standards, and ensure that all built environments meet the Company's specifications, regulatory requirements, and best international practices in construction and infrastructure.
ACTIVITIES:
A. Architectural Design & Documentation
- Articulate, initiate and develop original conceptual architectural designs in response to project briefs and Company requirements.
- Produce detailed architectural drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, and specifications, across all project stages from concept to construction.
- Prepare shop drawings and change-control drawings during construction phases, ensuring alignment with approved designs.
- Review and validate architectural designs submitted by external consultants, verifying compliance with scope, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Maintain and update all architectural working documents to reflect evolving site conditions and approved variations.
B. Construction Supervision & Quality Control
- Provide day-to-day on-site supervision of all architectural aspects of construction works across Company locations.
- Ensure strict adherence by contractors to approved construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control inspections on all architectural elements, identifying defects and non-conformances.
- Supervise the testing and approval of building materials and components to confirm compliance with specified standards.
- Prepare detailed site inspection reports, punch lists, and progress updates for Management review.
C. Project Management Support
- Serve as the Company's resident site architect for both Special Projects and Facilities Management works.
- Provide technical guidance on construction methods, sequencing, and best-practice execution approaches.
- Verify that completed works conform strictly to approved-for-construction drawings prior to signing off.
- Carry out periodic reviews of architectural drawings and ensure timely updates as required throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure that all as-built drawings for Company facilities are accurately completed, filed, and maintained.
Profile
D. Standards, Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all architectural deliverables conform to Company' internal specifications (COMPANY standards) and applicable industry best practices.
- Maintain a comprehensive and current record of all architectural drawings, specifications, and technical references for Company facilities.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of architectural standards and procedures within the Facilities Management function.
- Liaise with structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams to ensure coordinated, integrated design outputs.
KPI
- Timely delivery of accurate architectural drawings and documentation at each project stage.
- Zero tolerance for non-conforming construction works proceeding without formal resolution or approved variation.
- Completeness and currency of as-built drawings for all Company facilities.
Quality of site inspection reports and punch lists, measured by Management and contractor feedback. - Compliance of completed works with approved-for-construction drawings, as verified at project sign-off.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Architecture or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) is mandatory.
- Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) or an equivalent professional body is an advantage.
- Minimum of 14 years' post-qualification work experience in an architectural or engineering consultancy or a comparable corporate environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing the full architectural lifecycle of major construction and infrastructure projects.
- Prior experience working within an oil and gas, energy, or large corporate multi-site environment is highly desirable.
