Job description
We currently have an exciting opportunity with SPIE Global Services Energy, Qatar, for the position of Civil Supervisor.
Civil Supervisor to oversee and coordinate civil maintenance activities within a major industrial facility. The role requires strong expertise in structural maintenance, concrete rehabilitation, marine structures, and contractor management while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional with hands-on experience in plant maintenance environments who is passionate about driving safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Champion and promote a strong safety culture in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all maintenance and construction activities are executed safely and in accordance with HSE procedures.
- Participate in safety walks, incident investigations, risk assessments, and hazard identification programs.
- Identify, report, and proactively mitigate risks within the assigned area of responsibility.
Supervision & Execution
- Provide direct onsite supervision of contractors and subcontractors performing civil maintenance works.
- Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with approved work procedures, specifications, and project requirements.
- Monitor workforce productivity, work quality, and adherence to schedules.
Support the Structural Engineer in planning, coordinating, and executing civil maintenance activities.
Quality & Technical Assurance
- Ensure all works comply with approved construction drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards.
- Review and assist in the approval of Work Method Statements and maintenance procedures.
- Verify inspection results and ensure proper implementation of corrective actions.
- Evaluate defects, damages, and inspection findings, recommending appropriate repair solutions.
- Recognize structural integrity threats and promptly communicate critical findings to management and engineering teams.
Contractor Management
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with contract requirements, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Provide technical guidance and clarification regarding contract specifications and project requirements.
- Coordinate effectively with contractors and stakeholders to ensure timely completion of work.
Maintenance & Asset Integrity
Supervise civil maintenance activities involving:
Concrete rehabilitation and repair
Structural maintenance
Buildings and industrial facilities
Marine structures, including jetties and waterfront assets
Process plant civil infrastructure
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work logs, closeout reports, and documentation.
Develop structured work packs and maintenance plans to address technical and operational challenges.
Profile
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of direct and relevant experience in civil maintenance within the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, Fertilizer, or heavy industrial sectors.
At least 3 years in a supervisory role managing maintenance or construction activities. Strong experience in concrete repair, structural maintenance, and marine infrastructure maintenance.
Technical Skills
Knowledge of civil maintenance practices, inspection techniques, and repair methodologies. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents. Experience in contractor supervision and quality assurance. Strong understanding of asset integrity and structural reliability principles
