Job description

SPIE Services Nigeria Limited is currently looking for HSE Officer to join its work force in Nigeria. Responsibilities are as follows:

JOB PURPOSE

To assist the Head of HSE in application of the HSE policies in compliance with regulations, reference documents and best practices. To also participate in the preparation of works and operations, checking that measures and prescriptions are enforced. He shall ensure effective and prompt close out of actions resulting from incident/accident investigation and analysis and participate in ensuring maintenance and sound operation of all site safety-environment equipment and materials.

ACTIVITIES

  • Assist in the follow-up of site personnel (Company and Contractor) HSE training and preparedness, ensuring adequate attention is drawn to any lack of compliance.
  • Conduct regular check on the state of all HSE equipment and material to ensure sound functioning and readiness for
    deployment in case of emergency. Taking part in HSE studies and risk assessment (JRA) for the execution of operations
  • Assist the Head of HSE in the follow-up of HSE MS and procedures and regular updating of HSE records / performance indicators and providing such as at when required for reporting purposes. Checking enforcement, efficiency and maintenance of HSE MS. Ensuring that all HSE activities are fully documented and reported as necessary.
  • Participates actively in all HSE Committee meeting, site planning and coordination meeting as well as contributing to defining ways and means to identify / minimizing risks and the impact of activities especially SIMOPS.
  • Ensures that stocks of necessary HSE consumables e.g. hand-gloves, earmuffs/plugs, disposable coverall, spare fire extinguishers are maintained at appropriate levels.
  • Supervises the reporting of incident/accident, anomalies and follow-up the close out of actions from investigation recommendations.
  • Regularly input /update Events in Synergi.
  • Organizes, motivates and develops operations and maintenance staff to report anomalies. Contributes to the completion of PTW and the documents needed prior to operations and see that prescriptions are applied. Ensuring HSE performance monitoring.
  • Carries out any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of HSE.
  • Working within a team of HSE and Operation personnel, oversees compliance to HSE established guidelines and procedures and
    referring exceptions to the Head of HSE but makes specific decisions relating to organization of HSE related activities.

Profile

 Qualifications/Experience/Skills Required

  • Minimum of OND/HND Engineering or Physical Sciences.
  • 5-10 years' experience of oilfield production operations.
  • Sound grasp and understanding of safe working practices required in the oil industry.
  • Good Supervisory Skills.
