SPIE Global Services Energy is currently looking for a Turbine Supervisor to join its work force in Angola
Main activities:
- Ensures full compliance with QHSSE rules, Permit to Work (PTW), and site operating procedures during all maintenance activities.
- Organizes, plans, and supervises maintenance and troubleshooting activities on turbine-driven equipment (turbo-generators and turbo-compressors) and associated auxiliary systems.
- Provides technical support to the preparation and planning team for maintenance activities, including scope definition, resource requirements, and intervention strategies.
- Leads field teams during interventions, ensuring adherence to procedures, quality standards, and operational priorities.
- Takes full ownership of turbine systems under his responsibility in case of breakdown, ensuring rapid fault diagnosis, resolution, and restoration to normal operating conditions with minimal production impact.
- Manages and ensures availability, control, and proper use of specialized tools and equipment required for turbine maintenance.
- Prepares and validates detailed technical reports, including intervention feedback, failure analysis, and recommendations.
- Identifies recurrent failures, performs root cause analysis (RCA), and proposes corrective and preventive actions to improve reliability and availability.
- Interfaces with Operations, Electrical, and Instrumentation teams to ensure integrated system performance and safe restart of equipment.
- Contributes to achieving technical and maintenance KPIs, including equipment availability, reliability, and reduction of unplanned shutdowns.
Specific activities
- Ensure that the transfer of knowledge by mentoring occurs
properly within his teams, and actively participates in the OJT /
assessment program.
Mechanical Specific:
- Responsible for maintenance and performance of:
- 3 × Turbo-generators (Nuovo Pignone MS5001 gas turbines coupled with GEC Alsthom T500 generators)
- 3 × Turbo-compressors (Thermodyn RC/RB)
Qualification:
- Minimum qualification level required is Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Theoretical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of oil & gas processes and production systems, including hydrocarbon risks.
- Good foundation in rotating equipment principles, including gas turbines, compressors, and generators.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and vendor documentation.
- Understanding of control and protection systems (ESD, alarms, trips, interlocks).
Equipment Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of turbine-driven equipment: turbo-generators and turbo-compressors, including auxiliaries (lube oil, fuel gas, seal gas, cooling systems).
- Familiar with vibration monitoring and condition monitoring systems.
Understanding of mechanical and control interfaces with electrical and instrumentation systems.
Maintenance & Systems
- Strong experience in preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of rotating equipment.
- Working knowledge of CMMS (e.g., SAP PM): planning inputs, execution follow-up, and reporting.
- Ability to support job preparation, including scope definition, tools, spares, and procedures.
Practical & Supervisory Skills
- Proven ability to organise, supervise, and coordinate field teams during maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Strong fault diagnosis capability and ownership of breakdown situations until full restoration.
- Effective use of specialised tools and alignment, inspection, and testing equipment.
Maintenance Know-How
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain turbine systems and driven equipment (generators and compressors).
- Capable of analysing failures, identifying recurring issues, and proposing corrective actions (RCA mindset).
- Ensures safe restart and operational readiness of equipment after intervention.
HSE & Compliance
- Ensures strict adherence to PTW, LOTO, and site QHSSE procedures.
- Promotes safe working practices and compliance with industry standards.
