Job description
We currently have an opportunity within SPIE Global Services Energy, Qatar for a
Turbine Welder
Perform welding and fabrication on turbine components including blades, casings, diaphragms, and rotors.
Use GTAW (TIG), SMAW (stick), and other welding processes appropriate for high-temperature alloy materials.
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding procedures to execute accurate repairs and modifications.
Inspect and prepare parts for welding by cleaning, grinding, and aligning, as necessary.
Conduct post-weld inspections and perform any necessary rework to meet industry standards.
Operate portable and fixed welding equipment, including welding machines, grinders, and torches.
Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing PPE, performing hot work safely.
Work collaboratively with engineers, machinists, and maintenance personnel.
Profile
Technical diploma or ITI in welding or mechanical trade.
Minimum 5–10 years of experience in turbine welding within power generation, oil & gas, or heavy industrial environments.
A skilled and detail-oriented Turbine Workshop Welder with hands-on experience in welding, fabrication, and repair of turbine components in a controlled workshop environment. Proven ability to work with a variety of materials including high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and carbon steel using TIG, MIG, and SMAW welding processes. Adept at interpreting technical drawings and welding procedures to ensure precision and quality in all work.
Experienced in supporting turbine overhaul projects, refurbishing parts such as casings, nozzles, diaphragms, and rotors. Committed to maintaining high safety standards and delivering high-quality welds that meet or exceed industry specifications (ASME, ISO, or customer-specific standards). Collaborative team player with a strong work ethic and a focus on continuous improvement.
You will have good interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as, a good level of computer literacy and be proficient in Microsoft Office

Candidate criteria
Minimum level of experience required
6 years or more
Required authorisations
• High School Certificate or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 Year experience in gas turbine components repairs.
• Be a qualified welder per ASME IX or equivalent standard
• ASNT Level II certification in DPI
